The Autoridad de Fiscalización del Juego (AJ) serves as Bolivia's official Gaming Control Authority, established as a public institution with legal personality and independent administrative, financial, legal and technical authority under the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance (1). This regulatory body has jurisdiction and competence throughout the national territory of Bolivia.
Law No. 060 explicitly prohibits any gambling activities that are not expressly authorized by the state, including both land-based and online gambling operations. The AJ is responsible for regulating, controlling and supervising all lottery, gambling, raffle and business promotion activities that fall under the Gaming Authority's regulation (2). Licensed operators must obtain proper authorization through the AJ to legally conduct any form of gambling activity, including sports betting operations within Bolivia's borders.

Despite ongoing discussions about updating regulations to address online gaming and modernize the regulatory framework, no comprehensive amendments have been implemented. Foreign online operators continue to serve Bolivian players with limited enforcement, though the government has expressed interest in establishing clearer regulatory controls and potentially updating Law No. 060 to explicitly address online gambling activities.
